Periya: Discover the Enchanting Hill Station of Wayanad District, Kerala

Periya Village, Mananthavady, Wayanad District, Kerala State, India None have explained it well yet. This hill station at an average altitude of +2700 feet from MSL gets the best of the climate, and its diverse flora and fauna make it unique and anyone's envy on Earth. Known for its lush green natural landscapes and scenic mountains, thanks to the tea and coffee plantations and one of the world's healthiest perennial tropical rain forests in the Western Ghats.

Two significant rivers of Kerala and Karnataka, the Kabani and Bavali Rivers, start at Periya Village in Wayanad. The Bavali River, flowing from east to west, traverses through the Wayanad and Kannur districts of Kerala before joining the Arabian Sea at its estuary in Valapattanam, Kannur. The Kabani River, on the other hand, flowing from west to east, becomes part of the River Cauvery, and then it traverses through Karnataka and Tamil Nadu before finally joining the Bay of Bengal Sea.

Periya Holds Very Special Status for its Unique Flavor of Tea, Coffee, and Exotic Fruits. Elevation and Soil Acidity is Perfect for Mangosteen and Avocado Cultivation. Whether it's the climate or the perspiration, its biodiversity, its inhabitant's cultural uniqueness, or its culinary specialty, Periya, Wayanad, is truly a gem yet to be well explored by international travel enthusiasts and naturalists.

The tribal Settlement of Periya, Tribal warrior from the community of Kurichia, Edathana Kungan, Thalakkal Chandu, Holds another significance due to their involvement during the freedom fight against the English East India Company alongside Veera Pazhassi, Valour king of Malabar who resisted invasion.

Current day Periya Forest Range is Known as the hiding place of Veera Pazhassi and his forces, Kungichira, and the surrounding forest, for his Gorilla Warfare initiatives Excelled against English Forces, but finally, he receded to defeat and ended his life self for not being caught.

Periya, Once Again, is known for its natural beauty and climate, having many hills and valleys, and many rivers starting from here, it is a paradise it lives upon and hides. It's truly a transit place between the Lowlands ( Arabian Sea lands) and Highlands… Perfect place for climate, +2700 MSL, Cool, but not so cool
